It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth William Magee (Ken Magee). Ken passed on October 16, 2020, with his wife Jeanette Rodger Magee (Jan Magee) by his side.
The Magee family would like to extend our thanks to the amazing staff at Lake Country Lodge who supported Ken through his stay there.
Ken was born February 27th, 1932 in Eston Saskatchewan to Ruby Van Sickle and Russell Lowell Magee. Ken was the second youngest of four children.
He grew up in Olds, Alberta on his family farm. Ken's family then moved to a dairy in Nelson, where Ken graduated from Nelson High School in 1951.
His journey soon moved him to Prince Rupert, where he completed a 3-year civil service diploma. Ken then launched a thirty-seven year career as a forester, retiring in 1991 at the age of fifty-nine.
Upon retirement, Ken switched his focus and education to personal tax preparation services. In both his professional and personal life, Ken lived a life of service and generosity. This was reflected in his long career in public service with the Ministry of Forests and his dedication to the church.
Ken always had room in his heart to give.
Ken met his love Jan in Prince George, BC, along with her two children Colin and Irene McPherson. Soon after their meeting, Ken moved to Prince Rupert. The two continued their courtship through letters until Jan joined him in Prince Rupert. Eventually, returning to Prince George where the two were married, later welcoming their son, Russell Paul Magee.
