In Loving Memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Dimsdale on October 17, 2023, at the age of 80.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 44 years, Gloria, along with daughter Sheila (Kyle) and grandson James. He will also be sadly missed by his extended family and many, many friends.
In his younger years, Gordon enjoyed building and driving his dune buggy in the bush around the Okanagan, cross-country skiing, camping, and exploring. His bachelor days ended when he married Gloria in 1979 and his love of her home-cooked meals and baking began. Gord enjoyed a lengthy career at Sun-Rype in Kelowna holding various positions over the years until his retirement in 2008 as a fork-lift operator.
"Mr. D" spent countless hours in his wood shop building furniture, kitchen cabinets, sailboats, canoes, and children's toys. If you caught him at Lake Country Coffee House, you would always find him ready with a wooden toy for any child he met.
When Gord wasn't in his shop, he loved spending time volunteering in the community. He was involved with community soccer in Winfield for many years as a coach and an advocate for building the soccer fields at Beasley Park.
An informal celebration of life drop-in will be held on November 4, 2023 at Lake Country Art House (10356A Bottom Wood Lake Road) from 12-3 pm. We welcome the community to gather and reflect over a cup of coffee at Gord's favourite spot.
We would also like to extend sincere gratitude to the home care and nursing staff in Edmonton who treated Gord like family over the past two years.
Gord loved his community of Lake Country. As an expression of sympathy, the family encourages your donations of time volunteering in your community.
