Walk the rail trail

One kilometre of trail will be showcased this weekend in Lake Country

Learn more about the Okanagan Rail Trail this weekend with a showcase in Lake Country.

On Saturday, July 29, the Rail Trail Interjurisdictional Development Team is inviting the public to come out to an open house-style event where they can walk or ride their bike on the recently-constructed showcase section of the trail and learn about what goes into developing this community-centred project.

Over the past few weeks, Sureway Construction has been working on a one-kilometre rail trail test section between McCarthy Road and Lodge Road along the discontinued CN rail line.

The event is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will have an area of tents with information boards at the south end of the trail near McCarthy Road.

Residents are welcome to read the info boards and then test out the trail by walking or riding their bikes.

There is limited on-site parking but space is available along McCarthy Road, with overflow parking at these locations: Swalwell Park (9950 Bottom Wood Lake Rd), Winfield Arena (9830 Bottom Wood Lake Rd).
