Today in Vernon, divers dove under the frozen lake surface to attach cables to the truck

Members of Ram Environmental and Inland Divers Underwater Service Ltd. remove a truck from Swan Lake Tuesday afternoon.



UPDATED 3:40 P.M. TUESDAY:

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Ram Environmental and Inland Divers Underwater Service Ltd., a pickup truck has been removed from Swan Lake.

It’s believed the red pickup went into the lake late Saturday afternoon though the driver is said to have jumped from the vehicle as it was sinking into the lake through the ice.

A major expedition is underway on Vernon’s Swan Lake.

Crews gathered Tuesday to try and remove a truck that crashed through the ice recently.

“We will get divers under the ice after we created a hole,” said Lee Nelson, with Ram Environmental.

Cables will then be attached to the vehicle and it will be pulled to shore.

Specific details as to why the vehicle was on the ice are not known at this time.
