More multi-family is being planned for the Rutland neighbourhood.
A development permit application has been submitted to city hall for a six-storey, 118-unit building proposed over four lots (450-490) on Asher Road.
Documents show the building will contain studio, one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as 136 parking stalls.
Amenities planned for the project include an outdoor BBQ and lounge area.
The development is a few blocks from another six-storey, 83-unit building, planned for the corner of Dougal Road North and McIntosh Road by Kelowna’s Troika Developments.
“Building on Kelowna’s Official Community Plan for the Rutland Urban Centre, the end result of this project will be an apartment block that provides much-needed residential rental units in the community,” said Brad Klassen, Troika CEO.
The project will see three lots, located at 285 and 305 Dougall Road North, and 365 McIntosh Road, consolidated to build a six-storey, wood frame rental building.
The development will include multi-use green spaces, an outdoor dining and BBQ space, and a landscaped communal patio.
“The project in Rutland is the first piece of our company’s larger plans to establish an overall rental brand,” adds Klassen. “Beyond this current development, we are looking ahead to two more rental projects, another property in Rutland with a projection of 127 homes, as well as a .98 acre site at Gordon Drive and Lawson Avenue.”
