Power restored: More than 1,600 FortisBC Kelowna customers in the dark

Power has been restored after an outage that lasted nearly two hours.

Multiple FortisBC customers in Kelowna are in the dark following a power outage at about 1 p.m.

According to the FortisBC outage map, there are 1,647 customers affected in Kelowna.

The cause is listed as underground equipment damage. There is construction occurring on Leckie Road between Highway 97 and Enterprise Way, and on Enterprise Way from Hardy Rd. to Enterprise Court.

The outage stretches from Baron Rd. east to Rutland Rd. North and from Leckie Rd. north to McCurdy Rd.

In Kelowna along Enterprise Way, Leckie Rd., and Highways 97 and 33 multiple traffic lights are out causing chaos for drivers.
