Kelowna singer songwriter Jeff Piattelli will be performing at the Creekside Theatre in Winfield May 28.

Okanagan born and raised, Jeff Piattelli has been hitting the music scene hard for the last several years, playing at summer festivals, at Big White and at a variety of different venues.

But for the past several months he has been hard at work writing new songs, original compositions that he is taking out to play live for the first time, including later this month at the Creekside Theatre in Winfield.

And proceeds from the performance on May 28 at Creekside (tickets are $15) will go to youth in the Central Okanagan with Piattelli's cut going to the Downtown Youth Centre in Kelowna.

"I think it's important that kids have somewhere to go and people to look up to in their life," he said.

Now 25, Piattelli's interest in music dates back to his early years, but he was driven to pursue music while at Kelowna Secondary School, when he won a songwriting contest and heard his music getting spins on local radio.

A self-taught musician Piattelli once won a battle of the bands event to earn a spot playing at Wakefest in Kelowna. He's also recorded a solo acoustic album, which had 30,000 plays online and followed it with a full band album a few years later. His songs Superman, Beautiful Things and Listen have received regular radio play throughout the valley.

Over the last several months Piattelli has been writing all new original music. He is just beginning to perform the songs live, and even added a ukulele to his act alongside his guitar and piano. Using a loop pedal while performing he is able to layer melodies over himself and fill out a room.

Known as more of a solo performer, Piattelli will be joined by a full band and will be performing a wide variety of music on May 28, some old for long time fans and some new for those just discovering his songwriting talents.

Jeff Piattelli Band with opener Joel Strauss plays the Creekside Theatre May 28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.Call 250-766-9309 or go online at  http://www.creeksidetheatre.com.
