Work is currently underway to repave 16 kilometres of Highway 3 west of Keremeos, in the first of multiple projects across the South Okanagan and Similkameen.

The provincial government announced the projects on May 8, with work starting on the stretch between Hedley-Nickleplate Road and 3rd Street in Keremeos.

Around 480 kilometres of roadway will be resurfaced across the Southern Interior.

The work west of Keremeos is expected to be completed by June 20, and delays and lane closures are expected on weekdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Highway 97 will also be getting resurfaced. Peter Bros. Construction was awarded the contract to cover the 33 kilometres from Tuc el Nuit Road north of Oliver, up to White Lake Road between Kaleden and Okanagan Falls.

That project is expected to begin soon and is planned to be completed by October 2024.

Drivers are reminded to observe construction zone speed limits and the direction of traffic-control personnel. Updates on delays and closures are available here: drivebc.ca
