Lake Country council has given third reading to a zoning bylaw that would permit event camping at the hall on Oyama Road.

“They get out of town weddings and people use the property for reunions,” said Mayor James Baker.

“People park and stay overnight.”

Under the bylaw, event camping is defined as a group not exceeding 50 people residing outdoors in tents or campers for a maximum of 72 hours in a location associated with rental of the community hall.

Baker insists there’s no concern with the property regularly becoming a campground.

“It’s for occasional events only if you rent the community club,” he said.
