Skiers in the Okanagan will have some fresh powder to enjoy after a significant snowfall this weekend.

At Big White, 11 new centimetres fell overnight on Saturday to push the alpine base to 90 centimetres.

With the new snow, Big White has now opened both the Bullet Express Quad and the Black Forest Express Quad.

Thirty-seven runs are open today, with 16 of those groomed.

Silver Star also received 11 new centimetres in the last 24 hours, raising the Vernon-area resort’s base to 116 cm.

With all recent snowfall, caution is being urged to those driving up to local ski areas.

Following an accident Saturday morning Big White fire chief Jamie Svendsen said people simply need to slow down.
