The Kelowna Rockets point streak came to an end on Friday night in Everett.

After collecting 16 of a possible 18 points in their last nine games, the Rockets lost to the Everett Silvertips 6-2 on Mar. 15.

Everett came out firing with three goals in the first period from Carter Bear, Ben Hemmerling, and Jesse Heslop.

Kelowna got on the board early in the second period when Tij Iginla scored his team-leading 47th goal of the season. The goal was assisted by Dylan Wightman and Ethan Neutens.

But Everett stormed back, making it 4-1 after two periods.

In the third period, two Silvertips goals sandwiched Gabriel Szturc’s 30th goal of the campaign, assisted by Hiroki Gojsic and Iginla. It was a powerplay marker.

Jake Pilon made his first appearance in over a month, making 34 saves in the loss.

The Rockets remain fifth in the Western Conference with a record of 31-28-4-1 with three regular season games to go.

On Friday night, Wenatchee and Vancouver won their games but Victoria lost. Because of this, Wenatchee is now three points ahead of the Rockets, while Vancouver is one point behind and Victoria is two points behind.

The Rockets and the Silvertips will complete the home-and-home series on Saturday night at Prospera Place. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
