Kelowna Rockets’ Iginla earns WHL Player of the Week for 2nd time this season

The draft-eligible forward scored eight goals in the first round

After an outstanding first round of the playoffs, Kelowna Rockets forward Tij Iginla has been named WHL Player of the Week.

From Apr. 1-7, the 2024 NHL Draft eligible forward netted five goals, three assists, and a +4 rating in four games to help lead the Rockets past the Wenatchee Wild in the first round of the WHL playoffs.

In the first round, Iginla led the league with eight goals and is second with 11 points. It is the first time Kelowna has moved past the first round since 2017 when they made it to the Western Conference Final.

The Rockets will take on the Western Conference and BC Division champion Prince George Cougars in the second round, which starts Friday, Apr. 12 at the CN Centre in Prince George with game two on Saturday, Apr. 13 also in Prince George.

Games three and four are at Prospera Place on Tuesday, Apr 16, and Wednesday, Apr 17.
