Unleash with dogs and wine

The BC SPCA’s annual event is happening May 6 in Kelowna.

There are not too many things in life that are better than dogs and wine.

The combination of adorable pooches and Okanagan vino will once come together again for the BC SPCA’s annual Unleashed event.

Bring your dog on May 6 to the four cellar doors on the Kelowna Lakeshore wine route to sip, savour and donate to the local shelter.

Jenny Matechuk, with the Kelowna BC SPCA, says the event is a great opportunity to wine tour, snuggle with dogs and help out the non-profit.

“It is a special fundraiser for us, it raises a lot of money for the BC SPCA Kelowna,” she explains. “Last year it raised more than $7000, which is really important for us, I mean we depend on donations.”

Wineries will offer everything from pet photos, to dog agility courses, canapés and of course, wine.

At each of the four wineries, St. Hubertus, Cedar Creek, Tantalus and Summerhill Pyramid winery, they will offer a ‘pawsport’ for a suggested donation of $20 where stamps can be collected and event goers can have the opportunity to enter in for a gift basket.

Unleashed takes place May 6 from noon to 4 p.m. on the Kelowna Lakeshore Wine Route.
