The Central Okanagan Food Bank will receive another donation from local businesses.
All six of the ScanDesigns Furniture and Muse & Merchant Home Collection stores fundraised from Dec. 1 to Dec 21 to raise $20,500.
The stores raised the money by discounting their delivery fees by half for all purchases as an incentive for customers and donated 100 per cent of all delivery fees collected.
The teams donated $10,255 of the funds raised to the Gaby Davis Foundation, and the remaining $10,225 was split between local food banks in Kelowna, Langley, Coquitlam, Richmond, Victoria and Nanaimo.
The non-profit says they will be able to help at least five families because of the donation.
The Gaby Davis Foundation was created in honour of 7-year-old Gaby’s wish to help families through the financial struggles that come with supporting a child diagnosed with cancer. The non-profit is close to ScanDesign’s heart as Gaby’s grandmother worked for them for several years at the Coquitlam location.
“We have taken part in charity donation every year for the last ten years,” said Kendall Sturrock, store manager in Kelowna. “We want to be part of the community.”
