They may have to chop through some ice this year but firemen from the Oyama firehall as well as the Oyama branch of the Royal Canadian Legion are once again sponsoring a New Year’s Day polar bear dip to kick off 2014.
Last year 30 brave souls made the plunge into the freezing water of Wood Lake and the previous year they even had to cut away about two inches of ice from the lake.
Sign ups and pledges for the polar bear dip can be made at the Oyama Legion with proceeds from the event going to the food bank or charity of your choice.
