More than 800 people graced the stands at Elks Stadium last Wednesday night for the ‘Falcons Play for United Way’ charity baseball game.
The partnership with the Kelowna Falcons and United Way CSO was a first for the Falcons who offer only two charity nights in their season.
For last Wednesday’s game, the Falcons donated all ticket sales to the United Way along with the 50/50 raffle and sponsorship dollars, raising more than $12,000.
These money will be invested in the United Way’s focus areas—providing supports for children and youth to reach their full potential, reducing the poverty challenges for families and building strong, healthy communities.
“We had a great turnout for our very first ball game in partnership with the Kelowna Falcons,” said Shelley Gilmore, executive director of United Way CSO. “We are so grateful to the community as well as to our partners and sponsors in raising a substantial amount for the community.”
“We are really proud of what the United Way accomplished with this event especially in its first year,” added Mark Nonis, GM of the Kelowna Falcons.
“We’re always looking for ways to give back to the community and the United Way is a great way to do it. We look forward to building on the success of this event year after year.”
