Golf event raised more than $12,500 for Agur Lake Camp

Camp near Summerland provides accommodations to diverse abilities

A fundraiser for Agur Lake Camp raised more than $12,500.

The event was held at the Summerland Golf and Country Club on June 11.

The Golf Day Challenge included hole in one challenges for the golfers as wellas a helicopter ball drop at the end of the day.

This year, there was only one hole in one, accomplished during the helicopter ball drop.

The prize winners were Linda Kirbyson who won $2,500, Joni Marceau who won $1,000 and Lyse Deselliers who won $500.

The presenting sponsor was Brutus Truck Bodies. Other sponsors were Summerland Credit Union, Peters Bros., Shaughnessy’s Cove, Summerland Timber Mart, Topflight Helicopters, Duffer’s Den, Giant’s Head Brewing, as well as Bounce Radio and Move 97.1.

Agur Lake Camp is the only camp in the province able to accommodate those with diverse abilities. The camp is west of Summerland.

Money raised from the fundraiser will go directly to operating costs for the camp.
