February marks the second year for the Peacock Sheridan employee blood drive. Players, members, and staff of the Kelowna Chiefs, as well as local hockey enthusiasts, will join together for blood donations at the Kelowna Donor Centre at 1865 Dilworth Dr. across from the Best Buy throughout the month,.
Grant Sheridan, Chiefs GM and partner with the Peacock Sheridan Group, said the feedback from last year’s blood drive was very positive.
“It’s a nice fit to encourage the people that we’re well connected to in the business and hockey communities to get out and donate,” said Sheridan. “We’ve added the Chiefs players as well, and it’s great to add a little glitz and glamour to a really good cause.”
The drive is spearheaded by Chiefs’ goalie coach, Kurt Jory, who’s alive today because of blood donations after a serious incident 10 years ago when a skate cut Jory’s jugular vein during a hockey game.
“We like to support Kurt’s personal story,” added Sheridan.

The drive has also invited local retired hockey referee Brett Shaigec and girlfriend Jordon Korol as they’ll share their stories on how blood donations helped Korol with a childhood health scare with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The Peacock Sheridan group encourages and invites others to donate as to help others with similar stories from Korol throughout the month of February.
Individuals and groups are welcome to kick off the month long blood drive with the first day starting Jan. 31 at 1:30 p.m.
