Curlers' Corner: The plant is off–the ice is melting

Congratulations team Jaeger for winning the A event, defeating the Romer rink on the last shot in the eighth end.

Congratulations to team Homan on placing first in the round robin of the Women’s World, taking place in St. John’s Newfoundland. Hopefully they go all the way to winning the playoffs.

Meanwhile, back at the Winfield Curling Club, congratulations goes to team Jaeger for winning the A event, defeating the Romer rink on the last shot in the eighth end—a great game to watch.

In the B event, the McInnes foursome out-played the Jeff Richard team and the Kinglin rink dominated the Bruce Clark veterans for the C event.

There were many upsets over the weekend, including tie games ending with a draw to the button and the winner taking the game by half an inch. Can you imagine?

Another job well done. Thanks goes to Ev and her bonspiel crew for putting on a fabulous event that will be talked about for years.

Well, that’s it for this season as the plant was turned off and the ice is melting.

The upstairs lounge is still going strong as the wind-up is slated for March 29, followed by a few more events over the summer months.

Get your tickets for the wind-up by calling the club at 250-766-3318 or emailing winfieldcurlingclub@shaw.ca. Happy hour is at 6:30 p.m., followed by awards, dinner and dancing.

The silent auction will be going on all evening as well, so don’t forget your cheque book because there are a lot of “prizes” to be “won”!

I myself am looking forward to an evening of kicking back and dancing the night away.

See you there.
