Two Lake Country youths competed in the ski cross event at the recent International Children’s Winter Games.

Alexandra Ireland and J.J. DeJong put their extensive giant slalom training to use on the ski cross course against 54 competitors from all around the world. DeJong hurtled his way through five heats to race in the final against three experienced racers from Switzerland and Austria. He held third position until the last corner where his Swiss competitor overtook him.

Ireland made it through her first heat but was eliminated on her second run down the course.
