Letter: Strip malls from the north, billboards from the south

Now Kelowna city council thinks a new hotel with a parking lot facing Highway 97 is not suitable?

Re: Proposed Marriott Hotels and parking lot out front.

When a person enters Kelowna from the north, Highway 97 is one long unending strip of car lots, motorhomes and boats for sale.

Now city council thinks a new hotel with a parking lot facing Highway 97 is not suitable? Maybe we should have endless huge billboards all along Highway 97 from the north so visitors cannot see any of these items—only billboards—the same as what you see when you enter into Kelowna from the south. Let us keep the playing field fair—more billboards in the north.

What a city we have become—a long strip mall of car lots etc., and at the other end a long row of billboards—very nice indeed.
