To the editor:
The situation with our public transport system is an absolute disgrace. Our city council, the two MLAs and Ministers, Steve Thomson and Norm Letnick, not to mention Premier Christy Clark, next door, badly need to show responsibility and accountability to voters and tax-payers.
Many thanks to the several reasoning and caring people who wrote letters in the local press, admonishing the mayor and council. Bob Lalonde’s letter (Nov. 19): Civic leaders running away from bus dispute, is a strong nail hammered, causing the Mayor and Councillor biting their nails, totally incompetent, irresponsible, and gutless. How could a company from Scotland bag a free ride?
For half a Century in Canada, I have never seen such stupidity on the part of a local government, not to mention province. I have talked to several people — seniors, workers, students — who need public transportation to get to work, UBC and Okanagan College, and families hosting foreign students who have to drive and pick up students.
Never mind city council, what about Norm Letnick and Steve Thomson? Well, no one has to be a rocket scientist to know they are too busy preparing for next year’s provincial election. Along with Christy Clark, they are too busy giving goodies right and left to save their bacon, or should I say caviar?
Frankly, our politicians give credence to Donald Trump’s election as the next American president.
