“Just to be clear, we didn’t oppose the facility, as there is a need to do something…”

To the editor:

I attended the meeting at city hall Jan. 17. I was one of the speakers opposing construction of homeless building on Agassiz Road with a wet facility. Just to be clear, we didn’t oppose the facility, as there is a need to do something about the homeless problem but many of us opposed the use of a wet facility which is allowing the use of illegal drugs.

I could tell even before any of us spoke that the mayor and city councillors had made up their minds in spite of anything we said or the facts that had been presented.

There was no consideration given to us who reside in this high density residential area consisting mostly of seniors. These, mayor and city council, are people we voted in and should be working for us. It was so disappointing that once again politics and the old mighty dollar are more important. This could be you next time.
