Letter: 'Dog people' make it a small world

I think we can conclude two things. One: 'Dog' people are a strange breed and two: The world is actually a pretty small place.

To the editor:

I come to Kelowna each year in early July to attend a KHS Class of 1962 reunion at McCullough Station.

Our class had 1,958 graduates and we saw about 50 of them at the pub the first Saturday of July— not a bad turnout after 54 years.

I stay with a friend near Redlich Pond in Glenmore. My wife stays home with our Great Dane, Texas Ranger.

I was nearing my friend's home a few days ago, when I saw a couple walking a fawn-coloured Great Dane that looked a lot like mine. I immediately stopped to ask if I could have a 'dog fix.' They said OK and added that they thought I stopped to ask directions. The couple saw my car license plate and said they had just returned from California.

Then they said that while there they introduced themselves to a lady on the beach who was walking a Great Dane. They said the dog's name was Texas something.

I replied that it was my dog, which surprised everyone. The odds that they would have med my wife and dog on a California beach are pretty remote. After all, California is reasonably large.

To top it off they live a block or two from my friend.

I think we can conclude two things.

One: 'Dog' people are a strange breed

Two: The world is actually a pretty small place.
