November 1, 1920 - April 18, 2021
We sadly announce the passing of our dear Mom Ruby May Mondry, at Lake Country LTC Care Lodge on April 18, 2021. Ruby was born in Riverhurst, SK to parents John & Hazel Briscoe.
She married Peter Charles Mondry. They had two children, a daughter, Gloria Jean and son, Peter John.
They later moved to North Burnaby, BC. and later retired on Quadra Island. Both Ruby and her husband were Royal Canadian Legion members and supporters for many years.
Survived by daughter, Gloria (Warren), grandchildren; Cindy (Paul), Kelly (Maggie), Pete (Christa), and Jeffrey (Shannon). Great-grandchildren; Peter Jr., Mark, and Madison. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by husband Peter Charles, and son Peter John. Brothers, Milton, Norman, Daryl and Sisters Lillian and Evelyn.
Ruby cherished her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family dogs, Kodi, Clancy and Winston loved her and she considered them a special part of the family.
Ruby was a kind-hearted soul who enjoyed meeting new people. And if anyone ever needed help, she was always there. She loved music and always joined in with the singing. She was a wonderful cook and baker (coming home after school to the smell of freshly baked cinnamon buns was pure joy!).
Later in life, Ruby shared 12 years with her second husband, Michael Rudyk. Together they enjoyed their 5th wheel trailer with many great trips logged. Michael sadly passed away in 2000.
Ruby celebrated her 100th birthday last November 2020. Because of COVID-19 the birthday celebration took place at her window at Lake Country Lodge. She was so delighted to see the group of family and friends with balloons and noisemakers! The Sun Shone That Day!
To all her caregivers and friends at the Lake Country LTC Lodge, our deepest gratitude for their care, love and support especially during the past, very difficult year. A private service was held on May 5th and a celebration of Ruby's life will take place at a later date.
