MACCOLL, MADGE
Longtime resident of Oyama passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2013.
She was predeceased by
her husband of 60 years
Doug an RCAF pilot; her brothers Gerald and Bill
Tucker and her sister
Gertrude Ley; whom she
dearly loved. She is survived and lovingly remembered
by her children, Marilyn
Domokos of Victoria, Bev
Wilson(Brian) of Victoria,
Brian MacColl(Mae) of
Oyama and Nadine MacColl
of Victoria; also survived by
6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and numerous neices and nephews
and their families. Born in Rivers, Manitoba 1923, she moved to Oyama in 1936, where as a young woman, she was a talented athlete in tennis and baseball. She met
her husband and started their married life stationed at
various air force bases across Canada.
They returned to Vernon, BC in 1957, where she
thoroughly enjoyed her career working at Eaton's
Catalogue Mail Order and Post Office.
She excelled dealing with the public and staff and
made lifelong friends and co-workers.
Returning to Oyama in 1967, they built their home and
ran a small fruit orchard. Madge was a tireless worker
and indomitable spirit and took pride in her family,
her garden and home. She loved the outdoors, watching hockey and curling and doing puzzles.
On May 25, 2013 her 90th birthday celebration was held at the Oyama Community Hall , attended by family and friends. The family extends special thanks to all those Eaton's
collegues and local residents who attended. A family
memorial will be held in September. In lieu of flowers,
a donation could be made to the charity of your choice.
