July 12, 1929 - September 20, 2021
On September 20, 2021, Eleanor Blanche Kenyon passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 92. She was born on 12 July, 1929 in Naicam, Saskatchewan to Alec and Irene Tetrault.
She was the second child in a close family of seven siblings. Eleanor was an educator who taught in rural schools in Saskatchewan and Alberta for many years, then volunteered as a Victims' Advocate with the RCMP before retiring to the Okanagan Valley in Vernon, British Columbia.
Eleanor is survived by four sibling; Arthur Tetrault, Eli Tetrault, Florence (Clay) Budd and Louise (Keith) Scissons, seven children and their spouses; Georgia (Ray) Colgan, Louise (Jerry) Bolton, Don (Peggy) Kenyon, Kelly (Glenda) Kenyon, Brad (Karen) Kenyon, Tim (Colleen) Kenyon, Greg (Asa) Kenyon, sixteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband George Kenyon in 2017, brothers Ernest Tetrault and Ed Tetrault, sister Hilda McMahon, sisters-in-law Jackie Tetrault and Beverley Tetrault and brother-in-law Irvin McMahon.
Eleanor was a voracious reader, a passion she passed on to each of her children. She was an accomplished Bridge player and was always keen for a game of Honeymoon Whist, Canasta or Rummy with her family. She particularly enjoyed Us vs Them match or a Guys against Gals game.
She had a marvelous artistic flair which she expressed in her writing, painting, embroidery and quilting. These gifts are cherished by those who received them. She will be remembered for her quick wit, intellect, love of a good debate, an addiction to Purdy's chocolates and the never-empty pot of coffee in her kitchen.
The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her last years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Arrangements in care of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Vernon, BC. 250-542-4333.
