In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bonnie Ann Murphy announces her passing on August 21, 2022, in Kelowna after a lengthy battle with Dementia.
Bonnie was born on March 8th, 1957 in McLennan, Alberta to parents Michael and Mary Chasca. Upon completing high school, Bonnie studied at the University of British Columbia where she graduated with her teaching degree in 1980. Always one to further her career and education, Bonnie completed her Masters of Counseling from Gonzaga University in 1997. Bonnie spent the last 16 years of her teaching career at George Elliot Secondary School in Lake Country, BC.
She started teaching foods, sewing, and social responsibility in the Home Economics department. She ended her career here as a school counselor. Bonnie had a gift for bringing people together.
She was often found entertaining her friends, family, and colleagues. If it wasn't hosting a party at her house, she could be found organizing staff and student events at work. Everyone especially looked forward to her year-end parties. Bonnie's first love was always her family both immediate and extended.
Bonnie married her devoted husband Tim in 1979, they shared 43 happy years of marriage. They welcomed three children; Tara, Kyle, and Tyler. Never one to sit on the sidelines, Bonnie was often found either coaching or driving to her kid's numerous sporting activities, and she was always the biggest cheerleader in the crowd. As Tara, Kyle, and Tyler grew up and moved away, Bonnie and Tim would often spend time arranging vacation plans around visiting their children, golfing, and exploring the West Coast.
Bonnie was an avid sports participant. She loved to golf, play soccer, pickleball, go biking, and cross-country skiing, just to name a few.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Tim and children Tara (Shaun), Kyle (Maggie), and Tyler (Alexis); grandchildren Ian, Margaux, and Jack; mother Mary Chasca, and siblings John (Dauna), Jean (Ray) and Dan (Kim). She is predeceased by her father Michael Chasca.
Bonnie will be profoundly missed for her enthusiasm and unconditional love for those around her, and the joy she brought into the lives of those she touched, she truly made this world a brighter place.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Lakeview Lodge for the exceptional care provide to Bonnie over the last two years of her life.
In lieu of flowers the family requests consideration of a donation to any youth group in your local community.
