Kelowna’s newest waterfront park is now open to people and pups.

The freshly completed Pandosy Waterfront Park is on-leash dog-friendly and features amenities for everyone.

The park, located at 330 Meikle Avenue, at the foot of Cedar Avenue, was opened to the public on Saturday, June 24.

The Capital News assistant news hound, Ranger, ventured out to Pandosy to check out the new spot. He tested the park’s dog-friendly water fountains and said that they were in fine condition. The pooch added that there were many nice smells nearby and appreciated the sticks that were located along the waterfront.

For human park goers, there are sandy lake-side spots to lounge, a grassy park, beaches, basketball hoops, a pier, a floating dock an accessible kayak and paddle board launch, picnic tables, a boardwalk and promenade for biking and a misting cool down station.

Ranger the dog noted that the misting station may seem scary at first but “there is nothing to be afraid of once you get used to it.”

Some people testing the park out for the first time spoke to Capital News about their thoughts on the new development. They said that they wish the park had more shade. There is a lack of tree cover in the new park and as a result, it can get toasty in the afternoon. Bring a beach umbrella if you plan on being out for the day and be sure to wear sunscreen.

The total cost for the park’s construction is approximately $4.5 million. For more information on the parks in Kelowna visit kelowna.ca.
