The snow has stopped and the sun is out; however road warnings are still in effect throughout the Okanagan – Shuswap.
Continual snowfall over the weekend has left highways covered in compact snow and some black ice that has no chance of melting as temperatures were sitting close to -26 C with the windchill in some areas this morning.
DriveBC has road-condition warnings in place for Highway 1, Highway 33, Highway 97, Highway 6, Highway 97A, Highway 97B, Highway 97C, Highway 5 and Westside Road.
Compact snow, slippery conditions and sections of black ice are being reported along Highway 1 from Monte Creek to Sicamous and along to Salmon Arm.
Similar conditions are being reported all along Highway 97 from the north end of the Valley through to Penticton, and along Highway 97A and 97B and Westside Road.
Motorists along Highway 6 from Vernon to Coldstream and on to Lumby are seeing compact snow, slippery conditions and black ice.
Highway 33 is reportedly slippery from Kelowna to McColloch Road and through to Mission Creek Bridge.
The Okanagan Connector, Highway 97C and the Coquihalla, Highway 5, are seeing worse conditions.
