Long-time residents of Twin Lakes lost their home to fire Thursday morning.

The blaze erupted after 6 a.m. with the family and their animals able to escape to safety.

No one was injured in the blaze but there is nothing left of the home on Gran Oro Road.

There is no fire protection in Twin Lakes but BC Wildfire and Forest Services did arrive on scene.

Area director Subrina Monteith said the news was devastating and she has plans to visit the family to see if they need anything.

Numerous people from the tight-knit community have been by to check on them.

The cause of the fire is not currently known.
