On Saturday afternoon an RCMP car watches over the residence where a non-fatal shooting is alleged to have taken place last Thursday night.

One man is in hospital, and another is in custody after a shooting in Lake Country Thursday night.

According to the police, a 911 emergency call was received  at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, after a 59-year-old man who lives in the 10000-block of Highway 97 went to the caller’s home and asked her to call the police on his behalf.

Police went to the woman’s residence and arrested the 59-year-old man. They also located the victim, a 44-year-old man. When found, he was bleeding from an apparent gun shot wound to his right leg. Police officers administered first aid until the ambulance arrived.

The victim was taken to Kelowna General Hospital  where he underwent surgery to deal with the injury. The RCMP say he is expected to survive.

The police investigation is still in its early stages, according to RCMP spokesman Const. Steve Holmes with respect to the circumstances and any possible charges. The man who was arrested remains in police custody as of Friday morning.

More information will be revealed once it is known, said Holmes.
