A new six-storey commercial/residential building is being proposed for Kelowna’s Mission neighbourhood.

Rezoning documents submitted by Jim Pattison Developments to city hall this month show the project is planned for 3805 Lakeshore Road, at the corner of Cook Road.

That location is currently home to 103.1 Beach Radio, 104.9 The Lizard and Kelowna 10, which are owned by Pattison Media.

“The proposed building is set to become the focal point of Cook Truswell Village Centre, creating a strong sense of place while also being mindful of the adjacent wetland,” the documents state.

The development is being confined to a small portion of the site to ensure the preservation of a nearby wetland.

A large amenity space is included on the third floor, along with private patios, and rooftop amenity space above the parkade.

The project also provides a carshare program, to be offered by Jim Pattison Lease, to offset parking reductions being sought in the application.

The program would take bookings and payments through an app available to tenants of the building and the general public.

“Jim Pattison Lease views this Kelowna Carshare opportunity as a springboard to a much broader opportunity to develop and grow an entirely new business line for their company,” according to the documents.
