The Oliver Fire Department has warned locals about the ban on open burning after a bonfire spread and destroyed a building on June 18.
Firefighters were called to the structure fire off Sawmill Road just after midnight on June 18.
The fire is believed to have spread from a burn pile or bonfire to a nearby farm shed, which took substantial damage from the blaze.
After putting out the shed, firefighters remained on scene for another hour and a half to deal with hot spots in the area.
“The public is reminded that any open burning or bonfires are not permitted at this time,” the fire department posted on their social media page.
In the rural areas, the fire department has reminded people that campfires are restricted to being a max of a half-metre by half-metre in size.
Campfires are banned within Oliver town limits.
