The RCMP and the District of Lake Country have announced the appointment of the new detachment commander of the Lake Country RCMP Detachment following the retirement of his predecessor.
The Officer in Charge of Kelowna RCMP, Superintendent Nick Romanchuk, along with Mayor James Baker of the District of Lake Country announced the appointment of Sergeant Jayson Lucash to the position of detachment commander of the Lake Country RCMP detachment. Sergeant Lucash succeeds Sergeant Scott Rempel who retired on October 31, 2013.
“Sgt. Lucash will be an exceptional addition to the Lake Country Detachment," said superintendent Romanchuk. "“Not only does he bring a multitude of 17 years of policing experience to the position, but a personal interest in the community in which he and his wife have been members of since 2005. I look forward to Sgt. Lucash carrying on the fine work and dedication of outgoing Detachment Commander, Sgt. Scott Rempel."

Sgt. Lucash was born in Manitoba, raised in Alberta, and joined the RCMP in 1996. After completing his basic recruit training at depot division in Regina has was first posted in Maple Ridge where he was stationed from 1996 to 2002. From there he was transferred to Williams Lake and later Kelowna.
In 2007, Sgt. Lucash was promoted to the rank of corporal and transferred to the Penticton detachment where he served as a watch commander. In 2010, he transferred back to the Kelowna Detachment and in 2011 to the West Kelowna detachment where he again served as a watch commander.
In 2012, Sgt. Lucash was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and became the NCO/IC of the Kelowna Traffic Section, a blended traffic services unit comprised of both Municipal and Highway Traffic Patrol.
“I feel privileged to be assuming command of the Lake Country Detachment and to be serving the residents of the District of Lake Country. I look forward to joining the experienced and committed team of police officers and support staff at the Lake Country Detachment. Together we will continue to strive to improve the safety of our community," said Sgt. Lucash.
