A mudslide has closed Highway 3A east of Keremeos on Sunday afternoon.

Mud and rocks started coming down the mountain onto the highway around 2:20 p.m. The area is experiencing torrential rain.

According to DriveBC, Highway 3A is closed in both directions between Main Street and Stagecoach Road. A geo-technical assessment is in progress. The next update will be at 4 p.m.

Drivers can detour via Highway 97 to Osoyoos, then north on Highway 3A.

Rocks came down, crushing Green Lake Road in Okanagan Falls just after midnight Sunday, May 21. That road, which is just beside Highway 97, is currently closed.

Highway 97 in Summerland is down to single lane alternating traffic with intermittent closures due to a landslide that took place there in early May.
