Owen Dickie, a Lake Country councillor, had some tense moments as he tried to get a hold of his daughter and son-in-law, who both work for the Department of Foreign Affairs in downtown Ottawa.

"I was trying to find out if they are OK. I just got word they are OK but under lockdown so now I can breath," he said Wednesday morning.

"Although this is a horrible situation, I do hope that our Parliament buildings and all places of government remain open and accessible to the citizens of Canada."
