Strides to End Homelessness returns to Kelowna for its eighth year on Mar. 2. Kelowna’s Gospel Mission hosts a 5 km walk or a 10 km run fundraiser that will go towards the Mission.

With Kelowna’s help, the goal this year is to raise $50,000 to support Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s men and women at the emergency shelter and at Harmony House, their women’s transitional house. Executive director, Randy Benson, said the cold season hinders the needs of some in the community.

“This cold snap reminds us of how vulnerable some members of our community really are and how important it is to us to reach out to those at risk,” said Benson. “Joining our Strides walk is a way we can ensure that those in our community are cared for by providing the means to continue with our life-saving services, like shelter, hot food and warm clothing that they may otherwise not have.”

Wishbone Site Furnishings, Peter’s Independent Grocer, Northern Computer, Highstreet, Kelowna Glass, Source Office Furnishings, C3 Church, and Rapid Printing are the sponsors for the event.
