The Lake Country RCMP were busy last week dismantling marihuana grow operations.

As a result of a theft of hydro investigation, the Lake Country RCMP executed a search warrant on a house on the 13200 block of Lake Hill Drive Thursday, Jan. 26.

More than 300 mature marijuana plants were seized along with sophisticated growing equipment valued at thousands of dollars.

A man and a woman were arrested at the house and charges of theft of hydro as well as production of a controlled substance will be recommended against them both.

The residence has been condemned by the District of Lake Country and may not be occupied until repairs are completed and occupancy is approved.

Possible gang connection

Charges of producing a controlled substance are recommended for three Lake Country men after the Lake Country RCMP busted a significant marijuana grow operation last week.

The Lake Country RCMP executed search warrants simultaneously Jan. 24 on two houses, one located in the 11500 block of Lang Court and the other in the 9800 block of Sonata Road.

The house search of the Sonata Road residence uncovered more than 1,200 marijuana plants and growing equipment in the basement suite.

The men—ages 20, 29 and 39—were arrested and later released on promises to appear for court in April.

All three men face potential charges of production of a controlled substance.

Lake Country RCMP added that they believe the grow operation is associated with organized crime.
