UPDATE: Grassfire near Kamloops reaches three hectares, not expected to spread

Update 2:45 p.m.

The grass fire on the Tk’emlups te Secwépemc reserve has grown.

Now at three hectares the Paul Creek fire is being held, meaning it’s not likely to spread.

The cause of the fire is unknown and being investigated.

Kamloops Fire Rescue crews have been called to a grass fire off of Kootenay Way on the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc reserve.

The fire call came in at about noon on Monday, June 5. Smoke can be seen rising from the area amid windy conditions.

It is not known if any structures are in danger.
