Fire on Government Street in Penticton

A Penticton family that lost everything in a house fire on Monday did not have tenant insurance.

Friends of the family have organized a GoFundMe page to help gather donations such as clothes and toiletries.

Currently the family is in the care of Emergency Social Services but only for 72 hours following the blaze.

The couple, Tayna and Will, have three children and no where to go once the emergency assistance ends, according to friends.

No one was injured in the blaze and all of the residents were evacuated safely.

Now the hope is to raise $5000 on top of donated items to help the family get back on their feet. In the last 17 hours, $490 has been raised.

The family is also missing their cat, Figi. The cat is described as a large grey and white tabby that was last seen in the 1400 block of Government street following the house fire and is most likely timid of people following the incident.
