Election 2015: Upcoming all-candidates forums

Kelowna-Lake Country: The public will have several opportunities to question and listen to the local federal election candidates.

On Saturday, an all-candidates forum hosted by the West Kelowna Arts Council will take place at The Heritage retirement residence, 3630 Brown Rd.

The forum will be from 2 to 4 p.m. for Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola riding candidates.

An all-candidates forum hosted by the Central Okanagan Retired Teachers Association and Canadian Association for Retired People will take place Tuesday, Sept. 29, 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The forum will be held at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, 421 Cawston Ave., with the candidates from both the Kelowna-Lake Country and the Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola ridings invited to participate.

It will focus primarily on seniors’ issues at the federal level, such as health care, pensions, retirement concerns and the future for the next generations (for example; climate change, daycare funding).

The forum will be moderated by broadcaster Chris Walker, host of CBC Daybreak South, and will feature written questions, both pre-selected and from the audience.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, an all-candidates forum will be put on by the Westside Board of Trade at the Lions Hall in Westbank, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., for Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola candidates.

For Kelowna-Lake Country, future all-candidate forums are planned for Lake Country’s Creekside Theatre on Oct. 7, hosted by the Lake Country Chamber of Commerce, 7 to 9 p.m., and Oct. 14 at the Okanagan College atrium on the Kelowna campus, a meet and greet format from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola candidates are also invited to the Okanagan College event, and are also invited to attend a public forum organized by Const. Neil Bruce Middle School for Oct. 8, 9 to 10 a.m.
