Driver cold and wet but uninjured after crash into Wood Lake

Slush blamed for flatbed pickup going into Wood Lake near Winfield.

The driver of a truck that went off Hwy 97 into Wood Lake this morning, Jan. 30, was found cold and wet but uninjured.

At 4:45 a.m., the Lake Country RCMP received a report of a flatdeck pickup truck in Wood Lake just north of Oceola Road on Hwy 97 North.

The truck's lights were still on but witnesses could not see if the vehicle was occupied.

Emergency crews responded and confirmed that the truck was empty and no one was located nearby.

The driver was located by police walking along the highway near the Lake Country Inn. The 35-year-old Lake Country man was cold and wet but otherwise unharmed.

The driver had been heading northbound on the highway when he apparently hit a slushy section and lost control of the vehicle. No one else was in the vehicle and no other injuries were reported.
