With snowfall warnings in effect and temperatures dropping across the Central Okanagan many are reflecting on the importance of having a warm place to sleep this season.

Inn from the Cold offers emergency overnight shelter to people living on the street during the coldest winter months. It is a non-profit organization that depends on the donations and charity of others.

Which is why a local comedian took it upon himself to not only do what he does best and lift some spirits but also raise money for the Kelowna shelter.

This New Year’s Eve, Kelowna Comedy will host a show at Dakoda’s Lounge with profits going to help those in need.

The show is the brainchild of local stand-up comedian Kyle Farris, who also organized pizza for the first 20 people through the door on Dec. 31.

Tickets are $15 and the show starts at 7 p.m. at 1574 Harvey Ave.
