As your children are growing up in front of your eyes, you realize that you go through clothing and toys faster than you can blink an eye.

Often these items are barely or have never been used. So moms have been trying to recoup some costs by selling their kids clothing and toys, while buying gently used items from others.

The most common way has been through the internet or consignment stores, and occasionally flea markets. Now there is an event geared directly to those moms call The Kids Closet Cleanout. This is the children’s version of the Kelowna ClosetCleanout - which is a popular Ladies Fashion Flea Market.

The Kids Closet Cleanout will be held Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Okanagan Mission Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Spend the day shopping for kids clothing, toys, and equipment at this cash only event and enter to win a door prize.Your entry will also help support Mamas for Mamas.

“We are really excited to be able to support yet another charity with our series of Closet Cleanout’s,” said Rosanne Ting-MakBrown, organizer of the Kids Closet Cleanout.

“Mamas for Mamas is changing the landscape of poverty through innovative approaches to socioeconomic barriers faced by struggling families,” she said.

Mamas for Mamas will receive a portion of the proceeds, and will also get all leftover kids clothing, toys and equipment donated by the moms.

Anyone who is interested in renting a table can email for more information. And if you don’t have kids, the Ladies ClosetCleanout will be coming back in March. Details can be found here or on Facebook.
