In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, Big White Ski Resort is inviting a handful of lucky guests to ski or snowboard with Josh Foster on Canada Day!
On July 1st, Foster, director of snow sports for Big White Ski Resort, will take 14 lucky contest winners into the alpine and skiing and snowboarding Big White’s famous Easter Chutes. Foster is a CSIA level four senior course conductor and examiner, known for his appearances in Ski Television’s Ski Tips with Josh Foster.
This year was one of Big White’s best snow seasons ever, ending April 17 with a snow base of more than three metres. The incredible snowfall has left The Cliff at Big White with an impressive snowpack that’s still up to one metre deep in some sections, say hill officials.
The resort says it’s looking forward to welcoming guests to what it is billing as the highest Canada Day celebration in the country, with a birthday party and cake cutting in the Village at 12:30 p.m, and a Canada Day themed scavenger hunt at the top of Bullet Chair, 2151 metres (7057 feet) above sea level.
Scenic chairlift rides will be offered at a special 150th birthday discount Friday through Monday for visitors to sight-see in the alpine and spend the day outdoors in true Canadian fashion. Pets are welcome to ride the chairlift free of charge.
Also new this summer is Big White’s Summer Bucket List. Special passports will be available at the Village ticket office to encourage families to try their hand at activities listed on Canada’s partipACTION 150 national playlist. This weekend’s activities will include: beanbag tossing, an obstacle course, hide and seek, and mini putt.
