Fire crews quickly extinguished a basement fire at a home in Kelowna

Frefighters have yet to determine the cause of fire that broke out in a home on the 1200 Block of Gaggin Road.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., Monday evening the Kelowna Fire Department responded to reports of residence on fire. The first arriving Officer reported visible smoke and flames coming from the rear of the structure.

“Crews attacked the fire from both the inside and exterior of the residence confining the fire to one area of the residence,” said Dennis Miller, Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Captain, in a press release.

“The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is under investigation.”

Three engines, one rescue, a command vehicle and a safety officer including 16 fire personnel responded to the incident.

Flames were spotted coming from the basement of a home in Rutland, Monday night.

Reports of a fire at a residence in the 1200 block of Gaggin Road were called in about 9:30 p.m.

Several people in the area claim they witnessed flame and smoke coming from the rear of the house.

Fire crews arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the blaze, it’s unclear if anyone was home at the time.

The cause of the fire is not known.
