Kelowna Secondary School was under a hold and secure for about half an hour on Wednesday afternoon (March 12).
According to Central Okanagan Public Schools Communications Advisor Justin Schneider, there was a concern with a residence close to the school. RCMP requested the hold and secure at the high school.
RCMP requested the hold and secure because of the presence of a weapon at the nearby residence. According to police, the situation was resolved quickly.
"RCMP were present throughout the procedure," said Schneider in an email. "The hold and secure lasted for about 30 minutes during class time, so there was no disruption to usual activity for students."
