The City of Kelowna has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 2023.

GFOA is a non-profit professional organization that serves more than 18,000 government finance professionals throughout North America and recognizes excellence in budgeting and financial reporting.

“This is the 22nd year in a row that the city has received this award,” said Joe Sass, financial services divisional director.

The 2023 Final Budget and Five-Year Financial Plan was approved by council in May and a comprehensive application was completed and sent to the GFOA for panel review and scoring.

Council and staff will deliberate the 2024 budget, which includes a proposed 4.76 per cent property tax increase, on Dec. 7.
