Getting together for art's sake in Kelowna

Gallery Get-Together is for individual 50+

The Kelowna Art Galley has teamed with Northwood Retirement Resort to enhance a monthly social and educational event.

Gallery Get-Together, for individuals who are 50 plus, offers a space to be creative, learn more about visual arts, and connect with others.

“We are excited to offer this program to the community,” says Nataley Nagy, executive director at the Kelowna Art Gallery. “We especially want to welcome people who have never been to the gallery before.”

Previously, participants have sketched and painted en plein air (outside), and toured artist Dempsey Bob’s beautiful carved masks and sculptures.

Beginning this month Gallery Get-Together is free for all participants with sponsorship from Northwood Retirement Resort.

“We’re huge fans of their work in the community,” said Sarah Spinks, general manager at Northwood. “This is a wonderful example of how vibrant the cultural district is, and one of the reasons why downtown Kelowna is such a great place to live and play.”

The next three Gallery Get-Together events are scheduled for June 12, July 17, and August 14.

Participants can drop-in between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. It’s free and no registration is required.

More in formation is available on the Kelowna Art Gallery website.
